Introduction

Harry Nuriev uses the iconic fabric as his canvas to reinvent Denim, a constitutive part of history of fashion. His driving ethos is to combine the worlds of art, design, and fashion. He has explored his concept of Transformism, which consists of reinterpreting everyday objects to renew their beauty. Denim was given free rein to take over the ground floor of Carpenters' Parisian gallery with a set of artworks designed specifically for the space. These hybrid pieces are designed to adapt to the way we spend time indoors, such as a large Sofa Pool, a heterogenous space where one can eat, work, or rest. Nuriev places importance on design centered on human needs, capable of influencing behaviour for the better. Denim is organized by Carpenters Workshop Gallery in collaboration with Aurélie Julien Collectible.

It was a challenging project with 4 months time notice before exhibition starts during which was needed to be sourced all suppliers for different kind of know-how, to produce a dozen of iconic piece with a level of finish worthy of a masterpiece, like a large multifunctional pool bed of 4.5 x 3.5 meters, a fully equipped DJ table or a refined vanity desk. New techniques of paintings and fabric scratching were developed. All suppliers were deeply involved and the success of this project layed on their dedication.
